Types of Roof Drainage System

Accumulation of rainwater on a building’s rooftop can be hazardous for its structure if the water remains standing for longer duration. This is why, every building must have a roof drainage system to allow for the accumulated water to flow down the top of the building and pool in a reservoir or any other central collection point from which it can be reused or passed on further as per convenience and preference. There are several types of roof drainage systems being used at present in buildings around the world and these include the siphonic roof drainage system, gutters, scuppers and inner drains. Let us look at each of these in detail: 1.Gutters: These are the conventional system for roof drainage. Usually, they are found in pitched roofs and the rainwater glides into the gutter from the roof to be channeled into an underground reservoir or tank. The gutters work by action of gravity and are the most inexpensive option, which is why they are widely preferred. They also prevent the wat
